The Climate

The Grampians has a range of rainfall from 450mm to over 1250mm. Generally the Northern area is the driest and Mt William the wettest.

Wartook Gardens rainfall is about 560mm (approximately 60% of Halls Gap's annual rainfall) with most falling in the winter/early spring. We generally experience long summers with little or no rain. Although it is often very warm, over 40 degrees Celcius, the low humidity maintains comfort but we have to be careful not to let smaller plants dry out too much.

We often experience many frosts in winter but rarely are they severe. Usually around 0 to -3 degrees Celcius and often followed by mild sunny days. In dry periods the frost can inflict significant damage to sensitive plants.
